Cosplay of the year

Leia Radna: My selection, of course, is subjective, so if you disagree with it and immediately remember a couple of costumes or photosett better – wonderful! This proves the best as possible how high -quality and diverse cosplay our compatriots and friends from neighboring abroad make. It is really incredibly difficult to single out a dozen images, so I will talk about my personal favorites – and I urge you to share the best finds in the year in the comments.

I also decided to abandon last year's idea to distribute places from the first to the tenth. Instead, I just highlight the most memorable images and shootings, which it was simply impossible to say in the results of the year. So let's forget about prizes and grades for a while and just recall the brightest, juicy and complex images that we saw in 2019.

So Keep your eyes on me now

A little over a year ago at the World Cup for League of Legends Fans were presented to the virtual pop group K/DA, consisting of four legendal league champions in new impudent images: they were Akali, Kai’as, Evelyn and the leader of the whole team, Ari. A spectacular debut liked the community of players, and cosplayers almost raced ran to realize the images of new idols.

And if last year in the conditional nomination "Hype of the Year" confidently defeated Bowetta, then this year we constantly observed new reincarnations of musical diva. And believe me – we will still enjoy a lot of them and next year. One of the first updated skin Akali presented Leya SHION.

There were a lot of single photosets and performances, but to collect the full team and clearly set the number – the task is not from simple. But just recently, at the end of November, the team of Belarusian cosplayers (Polina Lasko – Kai’s, Ekaterina Leonchik – Ari, Nastya Bondaletova – Akali, Galka Moiseeva – Evelynn) showed an excellent result. Filming and installation – Evgeny Fedorov.

By the way, each of the members of the group has an additional, prestigious skin. For example, Sasha Holland boasts not only an excellent cosplay on the “prestigious” version of Ari, but also a funny video clip in the role of a “prestigious” rap star Akali.

And the beautiful Olga Bazanova performs in an alternative image of Evelynn.

Of course, with such an incendiary idea of a virtual case-band, it is difficult to stay within the framework set by the canon. So the fans of the game tried not only to think up additional unofficial costumes and images to the official participants of the group, but also presented in the same hypostasis and their other favorite champions. For example, the wonderful Katya Skirka created her author’s “starry” skin for a litter.

Bow to the lord of horror

We will move for a short time back on the noisy days of Igomir 2019 (from there, by the way, we also had a cosplayed report), namely in the hall 3, the G1 zone, where the grand blue stand of the company is located Blizzard. There are many talented cosplayers in spectacular and complex costumes on the stage, and a huge crowd is looking for the eyes of familiar heroes.

And then the lord of horror rises to the stage – Diablo with his own person. What is even more surprising, he is accompanied by little Tirael, who is clearly not easy in massive armor, but he still confidently follows the embodiment of world evil.

And even more amazes that the mother and son are actually hiding behind these images of great opponents. Yes, if you did not know, this cosplay Diablo was completed by the elegant Anna Alekseeva, who is known to many under the nickname Bryaku. But the full name of her son includes part of his stage image: the brave baby is actually called Tiralel-Konstantin.

For her costume, Anna received not only universal attention and recognition, but also a well -deserved victory (and at the same time a gaming laptop along with an anniversary collection edition Wow) in the cosplay contest from Blizzard on Gamera. Now it remains only to wait for our diablo to submit to the American BlizzCon himself.

Only fools are eager to where the angels do not dare to step

But speaking of cosplay Bryakus, one cannot fail to mention its other well -known image, namely St. Silvan from the Universe Warhammer 40,000. Yes, this image has been for more than a year, and we met him at festivals and in 2018, but full-fledged photosets appeared only this year-as well as a series of victories on the conventions. For example, in November, Anna won with this image the Grand Prix of the Cosplay Competition of the Moscow Festival Gameokon, and as a reward she got a trip to Gamescom 2020.

And if I now had a beautiful figurine in my hands with the inscription “Cosplayer of the Year”, I personally handed it around. I would like to wish her success in Germany on Gamescom, and in the future, it is also safe and preserved to get to BlizzCon. Believe me, twice to transport a massive handmade costume through the Atlantic Ocean is a very time -consuming and expensive task.

There can be only one queen here

Her namesake can tell us about this in detail, Anna Molieva, who this year not only took part in the cosplay contest on BlizzCon, but also won in one of the prize nominations called Artisan Crafting. Not so long ago I talked about this in the autumn issue of the “cosplay of the week”, but if you missed it, then let's congratulate Anna once again on a well -deserved victory.

All -metal shell

The uniqueness of the mentioned costume of Silvana lies in the choice of materials: the armor of the queen of the renounced are made of real metal, the corset is from real leather, and the onion is assembled from real bones. As severe and realistic cosplay as you can imagine. And the beautiful Anna does not stop there: at the moment she is participating in the cosplay contest from Cyberpunk 2077 with the image of the singer Lizzy Wizzy, whose modified body is covered with radiant chrome.

The future always begins now

And even if the long -awaited Cyberpunk 2077 we will see you only in April of the coming year, thanks to the cosplay competition from the company CD Projekt Red You can already enjoy the characters from the distant future. For four months, the company employees conducted offline qualifying tours at gaming exhibitions in Germany, USA, Japan, Russia and France. And the five main winners selected within the framework of these tours, together with the five winners of the online contest, will be able to reach the Grand finals, which will be held in early 2020.

Many of our cosplayers took part in offline competitions, someone occupied the honorary second and third places, but Sergey Stepanov became the only finalist from Russia. He won the qualifying tour on Gamere 2019 with his impressive costume Royce with a fighting exoskeleton. We wish Sergey good luck in the Grand Final, as well as we will come to the fact that someone else from talented Russian-speaking cosplayers will be able to become a finalist following the results of the online tour.

Try to get naval!

And another large -scale international cosplay contest, I just have to remind you. Namely, about the battle of cosplayers Overwatch. We have already emerged about the results of the competition and the results of the works of the participating teams, however, let's once again express respect to the Russian team, which has prepared an amazing full-sized Meka in addition to cosplay D.Va in standard skine.

If you were attended by Igomir 2019, you probably saw this amazing work live. Or maybe they saw the awarding ceremony of the team members: Irina Meyer, Grigory Ayrapetyan Aka Alfakot and Yaroslav Rochnyak.

We will collect all of them together

And to complete a series of stories about the exploits of our compatriots at international festivals, the results of the cosplay contest at the Convention The Nexus Arabia 2019 in the UAE. But for starters, the background: this year the League of Legend celebrated its tenth anniversary, and in honor of this event, employees of the Russian branch Riot Games They offered cosplayers on a competitive basis to participate in the creation of a large -scale photo book.

The idea is amazing, and it did not arise from scratch. For several years in a row, Cosplay calendars on LOL for Russian community have been created in a similar way, but in the calendar, after all, only twelve months. But in the new project there was a place under as much as fifty images! And this is clearly the case when the more – the better, the good that ardent and sincere fans of LOL among cosplayers are plenty of.

At the same time, Riot Games himself liked this experience so much that after the release of the photo book, many Russian cosplayers received an offer to come to work as animators for the Nexus Arabia 2019 festival. A team of more than twenty people flew to Riyadh in early December. At the same time, the festival had its own cosplay contest, whose total prize fund was 200 thousand dollars. As a result, six prizes went to our guys!

Katya Smirnova for the image of Karma in the skin, the goddess of the sun took second place and received 45 thousand dollars as a reward! Fourth place and $ 20,000 went to Anastasia Kulitskaya for cosplay champion Trash. And the significant prizes in the size of $ 5000 were received by Elizabeth Ber with the image of Akali for the best sewing, Ulyanka Makhneva for the best craft for the skin prestigious arcade Caitlin, Alexey Vlasov for the best performance in the role of Yasuo and Irina Sabetskaya for her image of Miss Fortune in the skin captain – she won nominations "The choice of spectators".

We need more views!

By the way, about choosing spectators. Over the past year, the most visible release of the weekly cosplay on the gambling was the May selection of “Cosplay of the Week:“ Hellboy ”, World of Warcraft, Dynasty Warriors 7, God of War, Marvel, Dc ". Most likely, the reason is the bright photo of Anastasia Zhelnina on the screensaver. Or maybe there are just too many fans among you "Hellboy" or Dynasty Warriors 7? We will not be able to check this for sure, but we will definitely see which issue will be the most popular next year.

Party Like a Nilfgaardian!

Last time in the cosplayed results of the year in seventh place was a photoset of the lodge of sorcerers from the photographer Victoria Milligan. But once this year there are no places, let's just note how many unique and copyright photographs were prepared by Milligan for all fans of the witcher saga. I especially remember the photoset on the fan art from Anastasia Kulakovskaya, made under the impression of the single Party Like a Russian Robbie Williams.

False-cylel on art from the same card of Gwint's card also came out just amazing. Yes, and other characters with photos of Milligan – not only the main, but also secondary or even familiar to us only by gwint – instantly transfer us to the world, filled with witches, monsters and Slavic magic.

Remove it immediately

And since we are talking about "Witcher" and excellent photographs, then let's admire Kira Mitenkova, who is also a big fan of this series.

In the photographer’s group, Keira Metz’s photographs of Lada Lumos lead the photographs of Lada Lumos in the boudoic image, but the group photoset with a midnight party of three sorcerers came to the first place – with the already familiar to us Keyra Metz, Yennifer performed by Anastasia Vvedenskaya and Julia Shuenkova. In the role of Triss Merigold.

Everything will be in my opinion!

No, of course, linen shooting on the “witcher” is wonderful, however, in my opinion, one of the most successful images and at the same time spectacular photo shoes last year is an Ash performed by Alisa Warsaw. You just look at how the image is fulfilled in detail and the character of the character is successfully conveyed. Photographer – Kira Mitnkova Aka Kira.

And since powerful sorceresses are not forbidden to appear in negligence, then such desperate bandits as Ash, certainly do not need anyone's approval. Following the successful photo network in the canonical appearance of the character Alice Warsaw, together with the photographer Nerina, prepared a pleasant bonus: a fantasy on what Esh does in the evenings in his free time.

Time to chew gum and put your asses

In my personal fiction nomination “Oldskuly, this year, Mikhalych Nazarov confidently wins with his stunning cosplay on Duke Nyukem. Incredibly nice in our time to see the embodiment of the heroes of the games of the nineties. So, friends, not a single, as they say, cosplayers live. Mikhalych's company as a dancer is Lada Lumos.

And this is definitely not a graph?

Probably, many ask such a question, looking at Ivara cosplay from Warframe From Daria Sannikova. No, everything is real here: only the outstanding skill of the craft and the talent of the photographer Nikolai Zharov allowed such fantastic shots.

From Astana with love

Despite how far or two good festivals have been popular in Russia and the CIS countries once or twice, and the St. Petersburg Starkon is completely on the verge of closing due to debts. It is all the more pleasant to see when something new appears-in such cases I only want to sincerely wish the organizational team good luck. And in this ungrateful business you can succeed – as, for example, the creators of the Comic Con Astana festival managed.

The prize fund of the festival amounted to almost 4,500,000 tenge (about 750,000 rubles), and not only cosplayers from Kazakhstan arrived in Astana, but also their Russian colleagues. A special guest at the event was the saw Asbeck, who played Eoron Grajoy in "Game of Thrones". The festival of this level and scale was held in Kazakhstan for the first time – and the government at the same time provided all possible support in the framework of a program dedicated to culture and spiritual modernization.

And although I decided not to give assessments, it was here that I even want to exclaim: ten out of ten! Of course, the organizers still have where to grow, but for the festival, which took place for the first time, they https://sister-site.org/hand-of-luck/ set a very high quality bar. I hope that next year Comic Con Astana will be held with a loud scope.

On this positive note, I am finishing to summarize the cosplayed results of 2019. Do not scold the author if you have not found your favorite photos here: your humble servant judges as he knows how, and highlighting the most significant results of the works of hundreds and thousands of people for a whole year is not so simple.

Better tell (and show) in the comments whose cosplay this year struck you in the very heart. Just do not forget to sign cosplayers and photographers: they worked hard and deserve their moment of glory! 🙂
